Training in Interpersonal Communication
Halvorsbøle International Retreat Centre, Oslo
27 April – 5 May 2024
A rare opportunity for personal growth – beneficial both for oneself and at a societal level
We are happy to invite Acem meditators from all countries to this very special event. The training is suitable both for first-timers and people with previous experience from Acem’s communication courses.
From early on in the course, you will discover that there is a lot underneath the surface of everyone. During the week, you will get a better understanding of what lies behind the communication. Read what two participants say:
Thomas Waldschmidt – automation engineer, Germany
The course was an intense experience – spending a week alongside people with different personalities who have not known each other before was very different from other social settings.
In group sessions, activities, and tasks we reacted differently to the same situations and reflected upon how we had responded. We were able to identify the different levels of communication and explore the underlying reasons for them. For me, it was very helpful and interesting to hear and discuss different perspectives within the group. I also learned a lot about what was going on inside me and was able to discover interesting sides of myself. Furthermore, I appreciate that we had so much time together to experiment and get to know each other better.
Summing up, I am glad to have attended this year and want to participate again. I believe that the course has started something in me. I go home curious about how I will relate to others from now on.
Alexia Delecourt – post-grad in digital transformation, Barcelona, Spain
I thought I knew a lot about myself before the course, but I learned much more during the week. There were many things I wasn’t aware of. I got new insights about myself, both how others perceive me and how I perceive myself. Although I learned the most from the communication group, other groups and activities were also important and useful. There were many different ways to learn.
Even though there weren’t any school classes during the week, what I learned feels like a «superpower». The new superpower is helpful. I used to take things for granted before, regarding others’ image and perception of me. Now I think differently about how we interact with each other – both my own interaction with people and how others interact with me. I am also more aware of how I project my own things into the world.
I thought I knew a lot about myself before the course, but I learned a lot more during it. There were many aspects of myself I hadn’t been aware of, and I gained new insight. I learned most from the communication group, especially about how others perceive me and how I perceive myself. But we were provided with different paths to learning – other groups and activities were also important and useful.
What I have learned feels like a «superpower»: I notice that I analyze things differently and am more aware of how I interact with people and how others interact with me. I have also started to see how I project my things into the world.

At Halvorsbøle I also enjoyed close contact with nature, the beautiful landscape, and the surroundings, and we went hiking in the mountains.
